Barrel-strength rye

A unique rye that starts off in the aging barrel as a freshly distilled lower-proof spirit, has been released at a commanding price. As the rye barrels mature, they increase in proof and in the case of the barrel strength whiskey, no water is added. This, according to Michter’s Distillery,  results in a final yield that is a richer, smoother, more full-bodied whiskey after maturation.

“Our team has been turning out some wonderful Kentucky style ryes over the years, and this 2021 release continues that trend,” said Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco.

With each of its limited production offerings aged to its peak maturity, Michter’s portfolio includes bourbon, rye, sour mash whiskey, and American whiskey. Currently all types of Michter’s are being allocated because demand exceeds supply.

Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye March 2021 single barrel release is bottled at 110.3 proof (55.2% ABV) and sells with a suggested retail price of $100 for a 750ml bottle. Michter’s Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey will available on a national and international basis this March.
