Gin in a paperboard bottle

Surrey’s Silent Pool Distillers is releasing Green Man Woodland Gin in a paperboard bottle to coincide with Earth Day 2021.

Produced by Frugalpac, the fully recyclable bottle is claimed to be five times lighter than its glass counterparts, and has a carbon footprint six times lower than glass or PET plastic bottles. The paperboard outer is made from 94 percent recycled paper, and the inner pouch is also fully recyclable and easy to separate once empty.

Ian McCulloch, the director of Silent Pool Distillers said in the press release: “Other spirits brands have spoken about using paperboard bottles for a while. However, when you scratch the surface, you realise that they’re quite far away from making that a reality. We wanted to make a real difference right now.

“With the release of Green Man Woodland Gin on World Earth Day, we’re very proud to be the first 100% recyclable paperboard bottle on the market.”
