Gordon & MacPhail unveils £100,000 set

Gordon & MacPhail have unveiled a limited run series of single-malts in partnership with football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish.

The ‘Vintage Moments by Gordon & MacPhail’ portfolio has been launched with the idea of giving drinkers the privilege of “owning chapters of Scotland’s liquid history” which is described as a legacy crafted with intention, patience and artistry.

This unique opportunity will be extended to a very small number of private clients each year to sample single malts and select five from pivotal years in their life. Each whisky will be hand-drawn from each cask and bottled at cask strength.

In doing so, it’ll be the only expression of each particular single malt that will ever exist.

To celebrate this special service, Gordon & MacPhail worked alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish to curate five rare Scotch single malt whiskies distilled in five years relating to landmark moments in his life.

Dalglish was born in 1951 and is regarded as one of the greatest strikers in post-war British football. He is one of Celtic’s, Liverpool’s and Scotland’s most admired figures, with a huge number of fans all around the world.

G&M director of prestige Stephen Rankin said: “It is a source of immense pride to be the only Scotch whisky company in the world to have stocks from every vintage going back as far as 1948. Many of these whiskies were laid down by grandfather, George Urquhart, who has been called ‘the father of single malt’.”

Just 15 individually numbered sets of Sir Kenny Dalglish’s Vintage Moments collection have been produced, priced at £100,000 (US$132,220) for the five 700ml bottle set.

“Selecting these single malts was a real privilege. I’ve been fortunate to experience some wonderful moments throughout my life and choosing just five years that meant the most wasn’t easy. I’m looking forward to sharing the stories behind those choices and hope people enjoy discovering them as much as I enjoyed making the selection,” added Sir Kenny Dalglish
