Ben Lomond Gin releases limited-edition gin to celebrate The 153rdĀ Open

Ben Lomond Gin, the official Gin of The Open, has unveiled a limited-edition craft gin to mark The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush this summer.

The Open 2025 Special Edition (43% ABV) has been released in homage to the prestigious golf tournament and includes native botanicals hand-picked directly from Royal Portrush. The links course will host the world’s best players who’ll use their skill and perseverance to master the wild and natural style of the course.

Launched in 2019, Ben Lomond Gin has established a reputation as one of Scotland’s most exciting gins, renowned for its bold flavour profiles and adventurous spirit. In 2024, it was awarded a Double Gold for its Original Scottish Gin at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of the oldest and most prestigious spirits competitions in the world.

The brand was named the first Official Gin of the Open in 2023, releasing a limited-edition gin to celebrate The 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool and another for The 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon in 2024.

This year, The Open 2025 Special Edition’s base is centred around the core Ben Lomond London Dry, utilising six of the 11 key botanicals to create a foundation that carries the gin’s signature taste. This has been elevated with a range of botanicals hand-selected from Royal Portrush itself: wild carrot seed, sea buckthorn, and hawthorn leaf.

This natural bouquet from botanicals native to the course, complements the base pine and light spice notes of core Ben Lomond, enhancing the juniper presence with earthy spice and warm nutty notes balanced by a burst of refreshing citrus, that gives way to a delicate floral aftertaste.

The gin has a complex, coastal character mirrored on the course itself and is the perfect spirit for toasting the world-renowned event. It is now available as a limited-edition souvenir set which includes a 70cl bottle of gin and two Ben Lomond Gin branded glasses, retailing for £45, or simply the standalone 70cl bottle of gin, retailing for £35.

John Grieveson, Chief Marketing Officer of Ben Lomond Gin owner Loch Lomond Group, said: ā€œWe’re proud to unveil our 2025 Special Edition in celebration of The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush, a world renowned course that perfectly embodies the wild, natural beauty we draw inspiration from at Ben Lomond Gin.

“This year’s special edition brings together our signature bold flavour profile with hand-foraged botanicals from the rugged landscape of Portrush, capturing the coastal character and adventurous spirit that define both the course and our gin.

“As The Official Gin of The Open, we’re honoured to continue this partnership for a third year and look forward to raising a glass to the players and fans as the world’s greatest golfers take on the legendary links of Royal Portrush.”

The Open is the oldest golf tournament in the world and the sport’s original championship, which brings together professional players from across the globe to compete for the coveted Claret Jug.

The 153rd Open will be held from 13-20 July 2025 at Royal Portrush in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Founded in 1888, and originally known as The County Club, Royal Portrush is accredited with leading the charge for the growth of golf in Ireland and last hosted The Open in 2019.

The Open Special Edition Gift Set is available to purchase from Ben Lomond Gin directly, online with various specialist whisky retailers, and in the Ben Lomond Gin Garden at The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush from 17 – 20 July 2025.
