Speyburn unveils vibrant new look

Speyburn single malt Scotch whisky has unveiled its refreshed collection, marking “the next exciting chapter” for the 126-year-old distillery located in the iconic whisky region of Speyside, Scotland.

The collection features two new whiskies: Bourbon Cask and Rum Cask Finish. These single malts will join the award-winning 10 Years Old to form Speyburn’s new core range.

This move marks a reinvigoration of the collection for the Speyside-based distillery, complemented by distinctive new design and packaging.

As the name suggests, Speyburn’s Bourbon Cask (ABV 40%) has been matured in  ex-bourbon casks. This refreshing single malt is the ideal introduction to Speyburn’s core collection and offers delicious notes of green apple, citrus and honey.

The palate boasts subtle vanilla, lots of delicate spices and a long smooth finish. Bourbon Cask is also the only whisky in the distillery’s history to be released without outer packaging, and whilst the outer packaging for Speyburn’s range is both beautiful and recyclable, this decision further continues the distillery’s commitment to sustainability.

In a first for the brand, Speyburn has matured its whisky in ex-bourbon barrels before expertly finishing the whisky in rum casks to create Rum Cask Finish (ABV 40%). On the nose this innovative take on Speyburn offers aromas of tropical fruits, spiced vanilla and honey.

The palate also boasts delicious flavours of tropical fruits, creamy coconut and spiced vanilla. Rum Cask Finish’s unique depth of flavour elevates Speyburn’s signature fruity house style and represents an exciting new alternative for Speyburn fans.

Euan Henderson, distillery manager at Speyburn, said: “At Speyburn, we have always prioritised simplicity, quality and good value. For over 126 years, we’ve crafted whisky with nothing but enjoyment in mind and I’m proud to say that the same is true of our new range.

“Not only do these new whiskies offer something for existing Speyburn fans to enjoy but will also appeal to a new wave of Speyburn drinkers. Speyburn Rum Cask Finish in particular is different to anything we’ve ever done before, and I can’t wait to hear what Speyburn fans think of this new release.

“The refreshed packaging perfectly complements the new range and it’s been great to see it all come together. I could tell you everything that I like about the new collection, but I prefer to let the whisky do the talking.”
