Brighton Gin founder new board director

Kathy Caton has been appointed as new board director to the Gin Guild.

In her new position, she says that she will spotlight smaller distilleries while advocating for the advantages that joining the industry body affords artisan producers in the UK and across the world.

Established ten years ago by The Worshipful Company of Distillers, the Gin Guild works to provide opportunity, as well as protecting and promoting the distillation of quality London Gin. The guild is made up of many gin distillers and industry leaders across production, promotion and distribution.

Speaking on her new role, Caton says: “As someone who makes a premium product with love and care, I am delighted to be involved with an organisation that champions quality and stands up for gin. It’s an amazing organisation. Some smaller distilleries like us may not realise the Gin Guild is for them, but that is quite the opposite. There are some absolute titans of the drinks industry involved, including Christopher Hayman of Hayman’s Gin, and Dr Anne Brock from Bombay Sapphire to name just two. The team is amazing, but I hope I can bring a different perspective and attract lots of smaller members of the distilling community, spreading the word about the Guild.”

Christopher Hayman of Hayman’s Gin and chairman of the Gin Guild added: “We are delighted to welcome Kathy to the Gin Guild board. I am sure she will bring her enthusiasm, vast experience, and distilling knowledge to help support the work of the Guild, its members and the vast number of craft distillers around the world.”
