Peach flavoured whiskey huge hit

While the thought of it sounds sickening sweet, Crown Royal Peach, a 70-proof (35% ABV), peach-flavoured Canadian whiskey is one of the most sought after drinks in North America and is second in sales to only Jack Daniels.

Could UK distillers have the same luck here with a flavoured whisky?

According to VinePair, Crown Royal introduced it in Canada in 1939 and offered it to USA in 1964. This year, the extreme popularity of it is forcing liquor stores and Alcohol Beverage Control outlets to limit the amount customers can buy.

“We found there was a huge, untapped market for people who aren’t what I like to call ‘flavor snobs,’” says Nicola Heckles, vice president of Crown Royal.

There could be considerable truth in that statement. What the author found was despite the massive popularity of Crown Royal Peach, no articles except for his has written about it, as if whisky reviewers and writers are not aware what regular people are drinking or want.

If you are curious to taste it, several UK online outlets offer it at double the price it costs in the USA.
