Mainbrace partners with British Sailing Team

Mainbrace, a Cornish spirits brand known for its multi-award-winning rum and gin range, has announced a long-term partnership with British sailors, Saskia Tidey and Freya Black.

This is a natural partnership for Mainbrace, whose story is inspired by and based around the spirit of the sea and whose brand is driven by its courage, teamwork and friendship values. The name Mainbrace itself stems from the old naval saying, to “splice the mainbrace”, which refers to the titanic task of repairing the mainbrace rope in the heat of a battle. Once the rope had been spliced together, the brave team of sailors would be rewarded with a double ration of rum or gin, toasting to the Queen.

The partnership will entail Mainbrace’s logo being featured on the British Sailing team members main sail as they journey across the UK and abroad ahead of their International racing circuit in the build up to Paris 2024. Mainbrace will also provide product for Saskia and Freya’s boat launch in June of 2022. Mainbrace will also supply drinks for any other events associated with Team Black & Tidey Sailing.

As an all-women team in a traditionally male dominated and physical sport, they are committed to the empowerment of female athletes to challenge the gender norms in life, which is why Mainbrace is excited to be supporting their campaign.

Richard Haigh, Co-Founder of Mainbrace, commented: “Saskia and Freya are the perfect choice to represent our brand, as we have always been hugely inspired by the spirit of courage, teamwork, and friendship that underpins a life spent predominantly by the sea. We can’t wait to bring Mainbrace to the elite world of International sailing”

“Mainbrace is a small brand, and we are a small team, so we feel we can work together in achieving our goals. Mainbrace share similar values to our campaign, especially teamwork, which underpins everything we do. We feel like it’s the perfect partnership going forwards!” said Saskia Tidey and Freya Black about Mainbrace.
