Is the story here about Ben Schroder, mezcal, his mezcal import company Pensador, or the small craft spirit producers of southern Mexico? If Peter Jackson was writing this, each idea would be its own feature-length film, ultimately tied together in part six with 18 hours of film.
Jackson, prone to exaggerating characters, would probably turn 30-year-old Schroder into a Victorian adventurer/hero who sets off into very rural Mexico, armed with only confidence at a level that 99 percent of us lack. The thing is, that would actually be pretty close to the mark.
In today’s episode, we’ll be asking the question: Can a one-man-band challenge the drinking habits of the British public when it comes to Mexican spirits? Forget celebrity tequila, doing shots, and getting confused as to whether its salt-tequila-lime, lick-sip-suck, or suck-sip-lick, Ben Schroder and Pensador will have us all drinking mezcal, the real thing. Ole!
