From the big players such as Diageo to the small independents, spirit manufacturers are seeing low-to-no alcoholic spirits as being here for the long haul. But there is a major problem with all of them – it’s not like drinking the real thing.
People have been enjoying purposely fermented drinks for at least 9,000 years. We like the relax, mellow feeling that alcohol brings and the social aspect of it. But there is something that makers of low-to-no alcohol spirits could be putting in their drinks to bring about a pleasant feeling. That is, cannabidiol, better known as CBD.
In this episode we’ll be talking with Dr Keith Villa, who is credited with being one of the major founders of the USA craft beer movement. Today, not only does he have his own cannabis brewery in Colorado, he’s also just written a book available here on Amazon titled “Brewing with Cannabis: using THC and CDB in beer.” Villa explains why adding CBD to alcohol-free spirits is an easy step, but why you need to think twice before adding it to alcohol.
